New Hobbies

I love learning new things. With that said, I am really glad to be done with school. I am definitely a hands on learner, plus I have trouble sitting still for any extended period of time. I often joke that I never picked up more hobbies than I did when I was in grad school.

And pick up hobbies I did. I built a little workstation in my garage for my wood working projects.

I picked up the piano!

I began exploring the area by hiking.

I honed my cooking and baking skills.

I made friends, which is cool because then you pick up their hobbies too.

I became obsessed with houseplants (I counted, and I am in the mid 70s now) 🤫

I worked hard to turn my yards into neat gardens. I learned how to grow all kinds of them. I think this hobby is my favorite for now, as the hobby produces ultimate rewards. I am fascinated with growing things. Sometimes when a seed pod spills during clean up, I can’t help but ponder a seed’s purpose: to spread and grow. For some reason this blows my mind!

Anyways, my hobbies give me so much joy. Pursuing something you are interested in gives you a deeper sense of comprehension. My hobbies make me feel like a real person. I am not just a nurse practitioner, I am a nurse practitioner who can cut wood and build things, find her way around the forest, cook a mean meal, grow a boatload of flowers, play the piano, all while taking semi good looking photos.

This period of my life is when I truly grew into my own person. I know who I am and what I like.

I hope you all have times of immense growth too. What are some of your hobbies?

Your blog is so entertaining and enlightening, I want to comment on each post. My hobbies are reading and gardening, and would actually love to go Bach to school what’s another $100 thousand or so. But, alas, I have no time for anything but working and commuting these days, and I never cook or bake any more. I don’t know how you do it. You are an amazing person! 😊

Having zero commute, no children, and working 4 days a week helps!
